That what I was taught. If I didn’t want five drill sergeants screaming in my face and making me do excruciating physical exercise, I made sure that the business end of my rifle was always pointed towards the targets whenever we went shooting during basic training.
Every gun owner should know this. I say all the time that the freedom to own a gun must be coupled with training that person to wield it. What we have in this country is not what the framers intended. They didn’t even intend for there to be a standing army. They instead would raise troops during a time of impending invasion-a militia. Those troops would be drilled and ready for combat.
They’d never have allowed it to go this far. And there certainly would have been none of this:
