This is old, but still hilarious. Give a Christian ignoramus who slept through biology a cell phone and YouTube…as Gus Hasford said, “There it is.”
GOP jerkoffs in Missouri want to make the food stamp experience a little more miserable:
The bill being proposed would ban the purchase with food stamps of “cookies, chips, energy drinks, soft drinks, seafood or steak.”
“The intention of the bill is to get the food stamp program back to it’s original intent, which is nutrition assistance,” said Rick Brattin, the representative who is sponsoring the proposed legislation.
“I have seen people purchasing filet mignons and crab legs with their EBT cards,” he said. “When I can’t afford it on my pay, I don’t want people on the taxpayer’s dime to afford those kinds of foods either.”
A legislator can’t afford filet mignon. I buy that.
I was on EBT for a while there. I had to go on it because the army pays you beans. Instead of buying soda(which we did, no need to quibble), we went to Whole Foods and ate healthy for a change. And I have SNAP to thank for the nutrition it provided me and my family when we were short on money.
So, really? We would begrudge a poor person a good meal? That’s not the issue. I can tell you that you can only stretch those dollars so far and you do have to conserve them. Our stipend was $400 for a family of 4 per month . That’s $100 a month for each person in the house. That sounds like a lot, but it isn’t. It breaks down to about $3 a day per household member. If you want us to eat processed garbage, then there you go. Today, I spend about $300 about every two weeks to keep the pantry stocked, and we don’t buy crap we don’t need. You cannot subsist on food stamps. If anything, the program needs to be expanded. And I don’t want to hear the bullshit rationale that people are not supposed to live on food stamps alone. $22,000 a year doesn’t pay the bills.
God damn, some people are stingy. You should pay in to the program, because that might be you if you have a catastrophe. Why don’t people consider that? Oh, I forgot, other leeches(that would be politicians) on the public’s dime are set. They got theirs, and fuck you.
Besides, it’s good for the economy. It’s 100% straight dollars to the grocery industry. Help people. Don’t be a shit.
