In the 2008 race, I was all in for Senator Barack Obama. Democrats had a tough decision to make; elect the first black president or the first woman president. The primary race was ugly and unfortunate. Most of the rancor seemed to come from the Hillary camp. I had to quit reading people like Taylor Marsh because she couldn’t stop herself from posting some of the worst sour grapes and derision because she was totally in the tank for the woman. Many vowed not to vote for Obama no matter what the other side fielded. Fortunately, this did not stop the inevitable. History tells the rest of the tale.
It’s 2015. We don’t have a candidate, but I think we all know that Mrs. Clinton is going to be the most unstoppable entry we have had in I don’t know how long. I want the race sewn up; I want to win and win big. That is why I am cuckoo for Hillary.
Then I come across this clickbait and all the idiots come out in the comments. It looks like there is going to be a percentage of potential Democratic votes lost AGAIN because the doctrinaire lefties are eschewing Mrs. Clinton because she is presumed to be another Third Way Democrat like her husband. We need to get real. Our current President is Third Way. It’s all we’ve got. There is no point in whining about the lack of choice when it comes to Democratic policy. But listen up-Hillary will be in our court more than not. I’ll take half a slice of pie rather than no slice at all. This calculus seems to evade my lefty brethren. You can’t, you just can’t give the keys to the Republicans. You all have already seen what they do when they are in power. What kind of havoc would they wreak if they were in control of every lever? The mind should reel.
Your pet candidates are NOT running. Please get your head out of your ass and stop the Republican rampage. Get on Team Clinton so we can save ourselves from the grim realities of life under conservative rule.
Do wingnuts get together and practice talking points? Is it just a coincidence that Tom Cotton and Sean Hannity are downplaying our poor record on gay rights? Doubtful. Better to point fingers at the Eeeevil Mooselimbs than do anything to clean up our own mess. Because evidently we can’t hold Islam and ourselves accountable at the same time:
Appearing yesterday on CNN, Senator Tom Cotton (R) urged critics of Indiana’s “religious freedom” law to get “perspective,” suggesting the treatment of LGBT people in Indiana compared favorably to countries where gay people are executed.
“I think it’s important we have a sense of perspective,” Cotton said. “In Iran they hang you for the crime of being gay.”
Sean Hannity and Dinesh D’Souza piled on the Indiana backlash tonight and asked why liberals are so worked up about gay rights here but not gay subjugation under radical Islam. Hannity lamented the “selective political moral outrage” and asked, “Why are they so silent on the bigger issues of the day?”
Hannity was still fixated on why liberals aren’t outraged about gay people being stoned and killed and horribly persecuted in Muslim nations.
So what we’re saying is that we have a light touch regarding discrimination compared to someplace else, so deal, amirite? I guess in some ways I should be encouraged here-it almost sounds like they give a shit about gay rights. A happy accident.
