Things You Will Never See A Liberal Do, Part 2

You haven’t been sickened, offended and disgusted today until you get a load of this. I am not saying it’s all conservatives, but damn, this behavior should be shunned by anyone with a sliver of a soul.

Tucker Carlson Is An Asshole

Even kids know that we were awful to Native Americans. We destroyed their way of life, forcibly converted them to our religion, and took their land with impunity. Then we killed a lot of them. So it shouldn’t surprise anyone that they don’t want to remember that dark period in their history. On the other hand, it’s the type of thing you don’t want to forget, lest it happen again.

In light of this, St. Louis University has removed from their campus a statue of a white preacher, converting some Native Americans on their knees. It’s an offensive tableau, and the school was right to remove it and send it to an art museum. But some white people couldn’t deal, and one of them was Tucker Carlson. You’re not going to believe this, but he accused the school of “reverse racism” against whites on Fox “News”:

Carlson didn’t buy the idea that the image of a European missionary towering above two Native Americans while holding a cross and converting them could possibly suggest white supremacy (or Christian supremacy), however.

“Why? Because he was a white supremacist?” Carlson asked, missing the point of the decision by a wide margin. “No! Because he was white!”

Tucker then tore off on a rant, saying that the college was “committing an act of racism” and “[DeSmet’s] skin color is itself considered so offense by the school that the statue itself can no longer be on display” –even though the statue will still be on display in the Museum of Art.

Poor, poor white people. So put upon. They’ve been discriminated against, killed, disenfranchised and enslaved. Right? Oh, maybe I’m talking about the history of every non-white person in America. My bad.

Tucker, like most conservatives, does not know the meaning of racism. Racism occurs when you feel yourself to be superior to another group. Because of that, “reverse racism” means absolutely nothing. I have yet to run into the minority who feels itself “superior” to whites. It’s just not their bag. It’s ours. You don’t have a choice to be “racist” as the antagonized group.

Fuck these Whitey-McWhitewhites like Carlson and his ilk. They have unbelievable balls whinging that they are being discriminated against. They don’t know what that means. Because they never went through that horror, and never will.

UPDATE Dec 8, 2016: This page gets hit at least 1-3 times a day. A virtual cookie for someone who can tell me how they got here, because Google masks its search terms to me.

UPDATE Dec 9, 2016: First part in a series on why he’s still an asshole up now.

UPDATE Feb 22, 2017: I didn’t forget, I’m just slow. More assholic behavior from Carlson.

Bible Humpers

I was gonna get all worked up about this, because it looks like a pathetic pander to the religious voting bloc:

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced during a New York Times interview that the Holy Bible is the book that made her who she is today.

“If you had to name one book that made you who you are today, what would it be?” asked The New York Times, in a book review questionnaire.

“At the risk of appearing predictable, the Bible was and remains the biggest influence on my thinking,” Clinton said. “I was raised reading it, memorizing passages from it and being guided by it.”

“I still find it a source of wisdom, comfort and encouragement,” she added.

Super annoying, right? Does she really need the piety vote? Will she get it anyway? No way, Jose.

But really, the story didn’t end there. Clinton was asked about other books she reads, and gave very, very impressive answers. Most importantly, she didn’t get caught flat-footed with the questions. She did not say “all of them, any of them“. She didn’t pick any racist authors.

Now, I like to read. But ever since I got a smartphone, my book time has dropped precipitously. It has taken me months to get through half of “A People’s History Of The United States”, a book I have wanted to read ever since I’d heard of it. And I have nowhere near familiar with most of the stuff she likes. I am glad we have such a curious nominee who makes me feel bad about my own intellectual pursuits.

Hillary Clinton is a Christian. I understand and accept that. Most of you are, and in general, I accept you for that. You would do the same for me, wouldn’t you? Despite the fact that I continually shame Christians on this blog, I actually respect your right to believe whatever the fuck you want. I just don’t like it when you rub my nose in it and puke it all over the society that I must take part in.

I hope she picks the best of the Bible to be influenced by. God bless her in that pursuit.

Hate On, Hate On

I never thought I would write these words, but I fully support the Westboro Baptist Church in this regard and I wish them well in their endeavors.

Do drop us a line about it. If you still have hands after you meet them, that is.

I’m now a second class citizen in Oklahoma if this shit passes:

A bill that would restrict the right to marry to people of faith and would mandate all marriage licenses be approved by a member of the clergy was approved by the Oklahoma state House on Tuesday.

House Bill 1125, sponsored by Republican State Representative Todd Russ, is a radical measure that would end secular marriage licenses in the state. In addition, the bill would bar all judges and other secular officials from performing marriages in Oklahoma.

Under the legislation, atheists and others not wanting to be married by a religious official could file an affidavit through the court clerk’s office claiming a common-law marriage.

You read right. Not only did they outlaw same-sex marriage (unless they are people of faith?), they’ve abridged the right of atheists to enjoy the same status as believers in marriage. I’m so pissed off I could spit wooden nickels. I have had it up to here with crazy Christians dictating how we should live. If implemented, I have my doubts that this could survive a court challenge-but is that how far we have to go to secure a normal marriage?

When do we draw the line and say enough? I have always felt I had common cause with the gay community as a minority, but this will make me redouble my efforts to battle these bitches and bastards at all fronts.

Dumbass Insists On Remaining Dumb

Another dipshit creationist insists on the 6,000 year old version of the earth even though he finds fossils that are 60,000,000 years old where he works:

Canadian Creationist Edgar Nernberg has struggled to defend his claim that the Earth is only 6,000 years old this week after he dug up a fossil that scientists say is 60 million years old.

Nernberg, who volunteers at a museum that teaches humans lived alongside dinosaurs, told the Calgary Sun that he wasn’t buying it.

“There’s no dates stamped on these things,” Nernberg quipped.

Ho, ho, ho! Funnier than fuck! Hey shit for brains, there is a date stamped on them. Learn basic geology. Get your nose out of the Bible and learn about the real world. It’s right at your fingertips, you simpleminded asshat!

The Great White Hope

Up until recently, Scott Walker has enjoyed a robust presence in the presidential race, even though he hasn’t declared yet. He’s playing very coy about his views, trying to remain the least controversial choice. A Serious Contender. No more:

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker defended his decision to sign a law in Wisconsin mandating ultrasounds for women before they get abortions, calling ultrasounds “just a cool thing out there.”

In an interview on “The Dana Show,” the Wisconsin Republican and 2016 presidential hopeful boasted to host Dana Loesch, “We defunded Planned Parenthood, we signed a law that requires an ultrasound. Which, the thing about that, the media tried to make that sound like that was a crazy idea.”

Defending the legislation against what he called the “gotcha” media, Walker said, “Most people I talk to, whether they’re pro-life or not, I find people all the time who’ll get out their iPhone and show me a picture of their grandkids’ ultrasound and how excited they are, so that’s a lovely thing. I think about my sons are 19 and 20, you know we still have their first ultrasound picture. It’s just a cool thing out there.”

Guilting women into an unwanted pregnancy is “a cool thing”. That is, if you can find a doctor to violate your reproductive rights in Wisconsin. This will not play with moderates. I want to know-how can Scott Walker be a contender for president when he is ruining his home state? Is the plan to fuck the state dry and then move on to destroying the federal government? Methinks so.

Sorry, But Orders Are Orders

Guess what? Todd Starnes is lying and talking about things he doesn’t understand again. He’s got a strange fascination with the military and its regulations, especially when it comes to defending  annoying Christians in uniform. Today’s Todd is about another Christian kook in the Marines who found herself court-martialed and kicked out with a bad conduct discharge because she can’t take orders. Starnes says she was booted for being a Christian; the real story is that she refused to listen to the direct orders of her superiors multiple times.

Refusing to follow orders is very serious. It undermines the discipline of a unit. You can get away with a lot of shit in the service but you don’t buck your superiors when they give you a direct order. I suppose that goes double for the Marine Corps-a much more rigid, disciplined group than my Army. Had Starnes comprehended and understood the offenses described in his own link to the court transcripts, he’d have nothing to write about. But being outraged is his bread and butter, so he made it about freedom of religion.

You can be involuntarily court-martialed for grievous violations of the UCMJ, but most infractions can be dealt with in an Article 15 hearing. It’s likely that this PVT Sterling had a choice between that and a court-martial. Article 15 procedures can also result in reductions in rank, a pay cut, and confinement to barracks for a period of time. She got all those things in the court-martial, and also got herself kicked out. That last part probably wouldn’t have occurred had she kept it in-house. She made the choice to go in front of a judge. Worse yet, she chose to represent herself in the court-martial, thinking that she had good reason to disobey the orders of most of her NCO support chain and command. The judges weren’t interested.

Why was she so recalcitrant? What is the basis for Starnes’ assertion that she was fired because of her religious beliefs? She sounds like a pain in the ass that needed to be removed. She had little to no military discipline. Her first infraction was posting religious phrases all over a desk she shared with another Marine. The notes said things like “no weapon formed against me shall prosper”. The SSG interpreted this as provocative language, a demonstration of defiance. Real fruit loop shit. The judges concurred that this is not a religious act protected by RFRA. She was told to take the notes down. She refused. That’s her first strike. The SSG then took the signs down at end of business. She put them up again. Once more she disobeyed the order to take them down. I have no idea why she wasn’t Artie 15’ed at this point.

Two months later, she was on profile for a hip injury. This means that she is exempt from certain duties or formalities to a degree. Her “chit” suggested that she wear her camo because a more dressed uniform would be difficult to wear. Her SSG was told that Friday’s uniform would be “charlies”, which I guess is the equivalent of my Class B dress. Consequently, she was told to change. She refused because she thought her chit gave her a pass to not dress in that uniform.  Here’s the important thing; this profile was not tantamount to “orders”. It was a suggestion. The SSG checked with medical and was told that yes, the Marine could wear something other than her camo. Even when confronted with this information Sterling wouldn’t budge. Eventually, PVT Sterling was ordered to do duty giving out passes to drivers at the gate of the post by her fucking 1SG. She refused, producing another profile that excused her from things like guard duty. She had done this duty before. But she thought that her chit covered that. Nope. She earned herself a trip on the carpet with the MAJ of the unit who ordered her to do the mission. Again, she refused to comply. So, she’s basically pissed off everyone in her chain.

Given these offenses, I am not surprised that she was sent to Fort Living Room. But leave it to Starnes to suggest that she was a target due to her religiosity. As I have demonstrated in a previous post by him, he has no military insight, so he misapprehends the facts in the case. No NCO or officer would allow this degree of insubordination to occur-it gives the rest of the unit the impression that they too can go up against their superiors without consequence. PVT Sterling was insolent (and indolent) to an unacceptable degree, and that is what got her removed. It had nothing to do with her right to express her faith. Neither Starnes nor PVT Sterling have a basis to support the claim that her charges were trumped up because she is a Christian.

Who cares what she is? If she was Muslim, Jewish or Hindu she would have landed in a world of shit too. This whole persecution act by Christians is such bullshit. Nobody wants to hear about your gods or your outlandish beliefs. It is happening to Christians a lot because A) They are the majority faith in this country and B) their predilection for projecting that faith is unprofessional and irritating to those who don’t subscribe to it. I know plenty of places in the civilian world where religious displays are not welcome at one’s workstation. The military is, unsurprisingly, no different.

You have a bazillion churches to uplift your lords and gods. Go there and be weird.

CORRECTION: Marines call punishment under Article 15 “NJP”, or “ninja-punch”.

Dirty Laundry

Multiple websites are trumpeting every little tidbit they can about the fucking Duggars, because it’s so salacious. It’s fun to skewer hypocrites and liars, especially those who issue judgements upon people in the name of their god. Well, the water is getting deeper and deeper…it won’t be long until this new shit wafts its way across the Internet. Some intrepid gadfly found a screenshot of Jim Bob Duggar’s campaign platforms when he ran for Congress in 2002. I quote:

Rape and incest represent heinous crimes and as such should be capital crimes.

Well, would you look at that. Under Jim Bob’s sharia, Josh would be put to the sword, not shuttled off to Christ camp for Jesus training where the director can’t keep his hands off women either.
