Religion: Dictating Policy In A Country Near You
Jim Inhofe, chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee(!!!), is citing scripture as evidence that climate change is not real. Look:
“I take my religion seriously,” Inhofe writes. “[T]his is what a lot of alarmists forget: God is still up there, and He promised to maintain the seasons and that cold and heat would never cease as long as the earth remains.”
For those still skeptical of his climate change skepticism, Inhofe quotes from the source material, “one of my favorite Bible verses,” Genesis 8:22:As long as the earth remains/
There will be springtime and harvest/Cold and heat, winter and summer.”
I’m no bible expert, but maybe he should not be so eager to cherry pick scripture. I can do that too. From the same book, Genesis 3:
17And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
A capricious fella, that God of yours.
