There’s a good reason why liberals run the entertainment industry. It’s because conservatives lack the requisite imagination to put people in seats. Nowhere are they more lacking in chops than in joke-telling. They choke on their sad punchlines every time. I bring you today’s exercise in Not Funny, courtesy of Connecticut’s Representative Mike Bocchino:
In Connecticut, lawmakers are debating a measure to define consent with respect to college sexual assault that would help prevent rapes on campus. GOP state Rep. Mike Bocchino objected…”No question that sexual assault is a horrific thing. No question that date rape things that happen on college campuses are disgusting. Because at the end of the day, there are no witnesses…or at least if there are, it’s a really great party.”
Hahahahaha! Aren’t you doubled over with laughter? Isn’t watching rape hilarious? Whoo-hoo!
The Illogical Seminary 
Remember a few years ago, the Republicans offered their own “John Stewart” type comedy show? How long did that last? Two weeks at the most. Among many other things, Republicans don’t understand comedy or empathy.

I had to go back and look at the show. It’s almost as funny as “Weekend Update” on SNL, which is a low bar to hurdle.
